The works are a collection of improvisational drawings and paintings sounding the immateriality/paradox of weight and light. 

There are over fifty pieces in The Chandelier Drawings 2006 collection.

The measurements span from 42″ H to 23″ H and width is in proportion to the above images. The top image is 40″H x 26″W.

The works are created with iridescent silver or graphite or white pencil on various backgrounds: heavyweight black or light cream or grey paper or on board with layers of deep charcoal black or white paint.  Erasures. Pentimento. Sound / voices in the distance moving forward to now. Echoes. Shimmering. Calling out light in the dark night.

Visual poems resonating and in sympathy with the shape of a heart; a spine; a pelvis and a fleur-de-lis. Hovering. Floating. Transmuting. Apparitions. Dreams. Evanescence.

Flower of light.

A portfolio of 12 to 20 paintings were created each June.

 Each work measures: 23″H x 15″W

The IRIS series is in private collections nationwide.

The originals shown was translated into an exquisite fine art print and is available for sale.

The shape resonates/overlaps with multiple images: triangle; vulva/phallic; pine tree; dragonfly; chandelier; human figure with outstretched arms-opening and surrendering to the heavens;hands in prayer;etc.

The evanescent and perennial evanescence of the iris bloom: waiting and awaiting, beholding, and accepting the forever imprint/gift of natural rapture.

The IRIS series began in 2002 as crayon drawings: RAPTURES.

I began to use the actual pulp of the bloom after a bloom spilled its color on a drawing. I hold the fragile bloom in my hand and carefully listen and draw out its life once again.

Heraldry of evanescent and astonishing beauty.

The IRIS series is an ongoing exploration/discovery/discipline every early June.

Mixed media on paper, canvas, and on panels. Hand drawn lines of either iridescent silver, white pencil or graphite on black to dark cloud grey background. They ‘read’ like sound: wavelengths.

Play of light on water; locked portraits released from the murky sea of one’s unconsciousness and the importance of breathing deep into volatile emotions and revealed stories; locating truth in darkness.

Keeping still as emotional disclosures are revealed.

Slippery when  heart truths emerge into consciousness.

The lines are rhythmic lulls. Yielding- breathing away resistance to truth. Patience and gentleness- not forced. With courage is release and movement. All is beautiful.

Measurements of the works varies, each work is approximately: 31″H  x 12.25″ W.

The Gold River is a series and exists in various formats: triptych, diptych and in single vertical panels.

The works are meditations on the sacred river and the cosmic forces flowing within the physical body.

The river is a symbol of the life force and flow. Rivers like the human life have three stages: young, mature and old.

The dimensions and the installation are coordinated to the body: the crown and the root chakras. Lines are incised with a nail in one continuous sweep and in one breath.

Gold paint is brushed in multiple directions like cross currents. A blood red is brushed into the incised lines, and then washed with gold.

The vertical triptych is spaced so the energy of the lines are not broken. Song lines, hushed and vibrant. The work alternates from a lilting gold to the dark red shadows.

Sentience/sensitivity/sensibility to what is not yet tangible. A luminous energy that can only be intuited by those who clear one’s optics and filters so as to SEE what is yet unknown and herald its dawning.

A transcendent and profound awakening moment – epiphanic- is the poetry embedded in each work.
