Improvisations.
A collection of whirling whorls of iridescent of silver or gold paint on various colors of board or heavyweight archival paper. The measurements varied from one work to the next. Note: the metallic sliver on navy blue images measures 26″H x19″W. The largest works measured 40″ H x 26″ W.
Private / Corporate collections – nationwide and Canada: meditation rooms and wellness centers.
With eyes shut, I would hold a white crayon and draw circles on the surface. Eyes open, the paint brush full of paint was laid on the concentric circles – the crayon resisted the paint. Each work presented a document of actions: pentimento of temporal/spatial energy.
The works records intensifying energy necessary to unleash a bound form into whorls of ever expanding new gospel songs.
A world traveler told me, upon viewing my unfolding new series, Halo: The Prayer Wheel, asked if I was a Buddhist? Have you visited Tibet? No, i replied. He told me of the Tibetan Buddhist practice of spinning prayer wheels found in private homes and in the community public space. The action of spinning a prayer wheel releases the compassionate energy within every individual into the world! I was stunned by this new knowledge – and. felt the jolt of universal divinity!
The catalyst of the series was the synchronicity of two profound events:
the dying of my beloved friend, Jane Matteson, with her soul turning to heaven and America’s invasion of Iraq.
